Who thought Virtual Worlds could only be used for good is sadly mistaken. The axis of evil have found wicked ways to exploit virtual ‘role playing games such as Second Life’, and threaten the free world from within their illusive virtual headquarters, enjoying the dark cover of anonymity. The Washington post tells us:
“U.S. intelligence officials are cautioning that popular Internet services that enable computer users to adopt cartoon-like personas in three-dimensional online spaces also are creating security vulnerabilities by opening novel ways for terrorists and criminals to move money, organize and conduct corporate espionage.”
After 3 pages of warnings and dangers of the Virtual Worlds and unmonitored communication, the article continues to concludes: “One intelligence official who spoke on condition of anonymity’ had no evidence of activity of terrorist cells or widespread organised crime in virtual worlds“. I think the ironic part is the true terrorism is telling people they have something to fear from ’sightings of Cartoon-like persona’s blowing up virtual buildings inside populair role-playing games’… Allahu Akbar.
