Another update from our Russian friends over at Alternativa 3D. They have made a massive breaktrough in bringing virtual worlds to the browser. By using the latest Flash 10 player (currently in Beta, download it over here) they have managed to improve the rendering of 3D to the graphics card. Instead of using a technique called ‘adaptive triangulation’ to create the illusion of 3D like the previous versions and Papervision3D now flash is able to actually generate 3D inside the browser.
”Finally, happened something we’ve been waiting for — Flash Player 10 preliminary version called “Astro” came out. New version lets to use in Alternativa3D faster and more quality drawing system and to optimize some counting routines.”
Besides the graphic improvements and better rendering I also noticed they added animation, something I haden’t spotted before. Click the image above to start the demo (you have to have flashplayer 10 installed obviously) or visit the official website for a second demo or previous releases requiring only Flashplayer 9.0.

I must have missed it! I’m so impressed with this project, and congrats on a clear and promising website. It seems to be ahead of the curve in communicating the 3D web:
